SENIORS INTERESTED IN THE BIOTECH FIELD AT UD, DSU, or DTCC: Applications for the 6th annual Governor Minner Biotech Scholarship are now available in Student Services. SENIORS: Applications for The Youth Opportunity Scholarship Fund are now available in Student Services. The potential recipient will have experienced a chronic illness, which has lasted at least six months and has impaired the individual's ability to pursue his or her education. The amount of the scholarship shall be set at the discretion of the Delaware Community Foundation(DCF) and based on the current value of the Fund. Completed applications and supporting papers must be received by April 1, 2010. ALL GRADES: The Janosik Family Scholarship Application is now available in Student Services and online at www.delcf.org. You will need to request a recommendation from a teacher or our guidance counselor based on your citizenship qualities, work ethic and service to the community. Also, the student must write a 250-word essay on the lessons learned from reading Back to the Basics by Johnny Janosik or Gifted Hands by Dr. Ben Carson. SENIORS: If you have been a resident of a manufactured home for at least one year, please apply for The First State Manufactured Housing Association Scholarship worth up to $2,000. SENIORS INTENDING TO FURTHER THEIR CAREER IN EMERGENCY MEDICAL SERVICES: The Stephanie Callaway Memorial Scholarship application is now available in Student Services. SENIORS PURSUING A CAREER IN VISUAL ARTS: The Cavallaro Cleary Visual Art Foundation (CCART) is awarding scholarships ranging from $500-$2,000. They are awarded primarily on the strength of the applicant's portfolio review and interview. FEMALE SENIORS THAT RESIDE IN THE COASTAL-GEORGETOWN AREA: The American Association of University Women(AAUW) is offering a $1,000 scholarship. SENIORS: The Port of Wilmington Maritime Society Scholarship is worth $2,500 and you may reapply annually. One of the eligibility requirements is that a parent, grandparent, or legal guardian is employed by a company at the Port of Wilmington that has contributed a minimum of $500 towards the Port of Wilmington Scholarship. In 2009 this foundation awarded $197,000 to 14 applicants. In his will Dr. Postles specified that those who would qualify for a scholarship would be: Of good moral character and integrity, one who cannot obtain such an education without financial assistance coming from sources outside the family, and the applicant must rank in the top 20% of their class or scored a 1700 or higher on the SAT exam.
