SENIORS: The Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) Good Citizens Scholarship Contest is now available in Student Services. The Sussex Tech Scholarship Committee will choose a winner to receive a DAR Good Citizen pin and certificate. The school-wide winner will then have the opportunity to enter the DAR Good Citizens scholarship contest.  The contest consists of two parts, Personal(70%) and Essay(30%). SENIORS THAT LIVE WITHIN A FIVE MILE RADIUS OF ELLENDALE: The Ellendale Ruritan Scholarship Award application is now available in Student Services. All applicants must show financial need and academic merit. This is a renewable scholarship for $600 a year. Completed applications must be received by March 1, 2010.

FEMALE SENIORS THAT RESIDE IN DELMAR, LAUREL, SEAFORD, & WOODBRIDGE DISTRICTS: The Western sussex Branch of the American Association of University Women will award one scholarship with a total disbursement of $1,200. The selection committee will consider: Class rank, GPA, SAT scores, school activities, awards/honors, career plans, and two letters of references are needed from teachers. SENIORS INTERESTED IN STUDYING CHEMISTRY, ENGINEERING, MEDICINE, DENTISTRY, OR LAW: The H. Fletcher Brown Scholarship is a great opportunity to earn a four-year scholarship. There are four parts: the Application, the Financial Statement, the Eligibility Requirements, and the Scholarship Application Checklist. Applications are available in Student Services. SENIORS INTERESTED IN EDUCATION MAJOR: The Delaware Association of School Administrators(DASA) is offering two $1,000 scholarships. FEMALE SENIORS: The Sussex County Republican Women's Club is pleased to present the Lillian Martin Memorial Scholarship. Applications are available in Student Services and online at www.scrwc.net. SENIORS: The Oak Orchard/Riverdale American Legion Auxiliary Unit #28 is offering a $1,000 scholarship to an average student. SENIORS INTERESTED IN AUTOMOTIVES: The Chrysler Technical Scholarship will award twenty scholarships in the amount of $1,000 per academic year and can be applied to any accredited community college, trade school or university. SENIORS INTERESTED IN THE BIOTECH FIELD AT UD, DSU, or DTCC: Applications for the 6th annual Governor Minner Biotech Scholarship are now available in Student Services. SENIORS: Applications for The Youth Opportunity Scholarship Fund are now available in Student Services. The potential recipient will have experienced a chronic illness, which has lasted at least six months and has impaired the individual's ability to pursue his or her education. The amount of the scholarship shall be set at the discretion of the Delaware Community Foundation(DCF) and based on the current value of the Fund. Completed applications and supporting papers must be received by April 1, 2010.

You will need to request a recommendation from a teacher or our guidance counselor based on your citizenship qualities, work ethic and service to the community. SENIORS: The Delaware Lions Foundation, Inc. is pleased to sponsor the James A. McCarty Memorial Scholarship. A total of eight (8) $1,000 scholarships will be awarded. The purpose of the scholarship is to provide financial assistance to a promising Delaware resident who aspires to a career in nursing. Completed applications must be submitted by April 1, 2010.

SENIORS: If you have been a resident of a manufactured home for at least one year, please apply for The First State Manufactured Housing Association Scholarship worth up to $2,000. Eligibility requirements and scholarship criteria can be picked up in Student Services, but applications need to be submitted online at www.doe.12.de.us/dhec. All application materials must be received by 4:30 p.m. on Friday, April 9, 2010.

SENIORS INTENDING TO FURTHER THEIR CAREER IN EMERGENCY MEDICAL SERVICES: The Stephanie Callaway Memorial Scholarship application is now available in Student Services. A minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 is needed to apply. The deadline for completed applications is Friday, April 9, 2010.

SENIORS PURSUING A CAREER IN VISUAL ARTS: The Cavallaro Cleary Visual Art Foundation (CCART) is awarding scholarships ranging from $500-$2,000. They are awarded primarily on the strength of the applicant's portfolio review and interview. SENIORS THAT RESIDE IN THE INDIAN RIVER SCHOOL DISTRICT: The 14th annual Howard D. Grise Memorial Scholarship is once again offering $250 to a qualified high school graduate. FEMALE SENIORS THAT RESIDE IN THE COASTAL-GEORGETOWN AREA: The American Association of University Women(AAUW) is offering a $1,000 scholarship. SENIORS PURSUING A CAREER IN ARCHITECTURE & CIVIL ENGINEERING: George, Miles & Buhr, LLC is sponsoring two scholarships , each with a $500 value. The Thomas S. George Memorial Award for Architectural Students and the George K. Miles Memorial Award for Civil engineering Students. Stop by Student Services to pick the application. SENIORS ATTENDING UNIVERSITY OF DELAWARE: The Evelyn E. Stricklyn Scholarship Fund is once again available. In 2009 the committee awarded 5 four-year scholarships totaling $52,000. SENIORS: The Port of Wilmington Maritime Society Scholarship is worth $2,500 and you may reapply annually. One of the eligibility requirements is that a parent, grandparent, or legal guardian is employed by a company at the Port of Wilmington that has contributed a minimum of $500 towards the Port of Wilmington Scholarship. SENIORS ATTENDING UNIVERSITY OF DELAWARE: The A. Katherine Richards Scholarship is now available in Student Services. Last year the scholarship committee awarded three four-year scholarships to UD. Some of the qualifications include: Good moral character and citizenship, demonstrated financial need, and you must have maintained a 3.0 GPA during the last two years of high school. SENIORS: The Wilbur E. Postles Scholarship Fund is once again available. In 2009 this foundation awarded $197,000 to 14 applicants. In his will Dr. Postles specified that those who would qualify for a scholarship would be: Of good moral character and integrity, one who cannot obtain such an education without financial assistance coming from sources outside the family, and the applicant must rank in the top 20% of their class or scored a 1700 or higher on the SAT exam.
